Refund Policy

We have a refund policy. To avoid disputes, please make sure you read our policies carefully before requesting a refund.

Extension, Cancellation and postponement

Students wishing to delay the start of a course must notify MLI in advance. Then, for students newer than 6 months, a new offer letter will be issued for free, and it will be free later. Students who study for more than 6 months will be charged a fee of $50.

Cancel order

All cancellation notices must be sent in writing by mail, fax or email indicating your intention to quit the registered program. Registration fees and accommodation placement fees are non-refundable.

If a student has to cancel their course due to a visa refusal, a full refund will be made (excluding registration fees and accommodation placement fees). Please note that MLI needs to receive Canada’s original rejection letter to qualify for a full refund.

Students must meet the following criteria to receive a refund:

Before the course start date

Visa denial:

If the Visa is denied by the Canadian Embassy, MLI will refund all accommodation fees paid.

Refund request received 30 days or more prior to the scheduled start date:

A full refund to be paid.

Refund request received more than 15 days and less than 30 days prior to the scheduled start date:

There would be a 80% refund to be paid.

Refund request received less than 15 days prior to the scheduled start date:

There would be a 60% refund to be paid.

After the course start date

Complete the 1-10% of the total number of hours:

There would be a 50% refund to be paid.

Complete the 11-20% of the total number of hours:

There would be a 40% refund to be paid.

Complete more than 20% of the total number of hours:

There would be no refund to be paid.

Students can upgrade, but not downgrade, coursework. For example, if a student wants to change from a full-time course to a part-time course, he/she will have to cancel the course and apply again. A specific refund amount will apply the cancellation policy.

* If a student comes to Canada with an MLI study permit, he or she will waive all rights to a refund.

Homestay refund

Homestay placement fees are non-refundable. If the student wishes to change to a different homestay family, the person in charge must be notified in writing 2 weeks in advance. Homestay costs are non-refundable after 4 weeks staying with a host family.

Time for refund

If he/she is eligible for a refund under the above conditions, the refund will be issued to you within 45 working days after receiving written notice of cancellation.

Please note that the registration and accommodation placement fees are not refundable under any circumstances.

Student Expulsion

MLI is committed to allowing all students to be treated fairly and equitably while allowing students to complete the courses they need to complete. However, for students who commit any of the following behaviors, MLI will deal with them accordingly based on each individual situation.

Academic dishonesty

Any words, actions, or conduct performed alone or in association with others to directly or indirectly provide unfair benefits to themselves or other students, including:

i) Cheating/Stealing

ii) Unauthorized collaboration

iii) Record changes

iv) Bribery

v) Dishonesty/Making false statements

Unpaid account balance

Failure to pay overdue accounts due to MLI within the specified period may result in expulsion after a written warning is issued.

Drugs and alcohol

No drugs or alcohol are permitted on school premises.

No person, whether an employee or a student, may smoke marijuana on the school premises or at any school-sponsored event.

Minors/adults who own, use, sell or distribute legal (e.g., marijuana, prescription drugs, etc.) or illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, alcohol or tobacco on school property or at any event authorized by the school will be subject to the most severe disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal.

School drug and alcohol policies also apply to all student travel and activities while representing MLI. If students are suspected of carrying drugs, illegal substances or items during travel and activities, the school reserves the right to search personal property for any student items that may be considered banned. Students considered to be affected by or under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol face serious consequences, including suspension or expulsion.

Breach of Code of Conduct

All students must adhere to MLI’s Code of Conduct. MLI may expel students who are suspended from school for failing to comply with the requirements and who violate any provision of the BLI Code of Conduct, even if the violation did not cause harm to people or property.

Harassment or discrimination

MLI does not tolerate harassment or discrimination against any student, staff, client, or school visitor. People involved in harassing or discriminatory activities related to race, gender, or sexual orientation may be expelled or suspended immediately, depending on the severity of the behavior. Depending on the severity of the behavior, the school may, at its discretion, expel any employee or student who is investigated for serious harassment or discriminatory activities. In determining what constitutes harassment or discrimination, MLI cites the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.

Damage property

Students who damage, steal, or otherwise misuse school property may be expelled. At its discretion, MLI may demand immediate restitution for losses.

Harm to teachers

MLI is committed to ensuring the safety of all school staff, students, customers and visitors. Students who take any action to harm themselves or others may be expelled.

Note:

Students expelled for any reason will be notified in writing by email, handwritten letter, or registered letter. The notice will state the basis for expulsion and the effective date. A dismissed student who disputes the fact of dismissal must follow MLI’s appeal procedure for the student, provide sufficient evidence to support the appeal, and appeal the decision within three days of notification. Students who file an appeal without success will be considered withdrawn from MLI courses and programs.

Liquidation of tuition for expelled students

For expelled students, the account of the expelled student will be filled in according to the school’s “Fee Refund Policy.”

Return of property

The expelled student is responsible for returning all school property that he owns within 10 days of the expulsion and is financially responsible for any property not returned, or property returned in poor condition.
